Program Description

Join Dr. Simon Sheng for this once-in-a-lifetime International Business and cultural immersion experience in China!

The main purpose of this course is to obtain a first-hand understanding and experience of business and culture in China. China’s recent resurgence as the largest emerging market and the 2nd largest economy in the world implies that it is important for global business. It is very valuable for students to gain an appreciation of the Chinese business and cultural environment. This course attempts to accomplish this through a hands-on study abroad experience that focuses on visiting multiple China cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou). The trip includes several business visits along with cultural activities aimed at obtaining an appreciation of the Chinese culture. Students will also visit some Chinese universities and have a chance to communicate in person with Chinese college students.

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • Permission of faculty leader


COURSE(S):
Students will enroll in BUS 490: Business & Culture in China for a total of 3 credit hours which can be used to satisfy UAB School of Business International Business course requirements or major/minor requirements.
