***Round-trip airfare is from Birmingham to Santiago, Chile. You are required to fly with the group arrangements that have been made. You will receive this airline ticket reservation information closer to the start of the program.

****These costs may vary depending upon individual student purchases. Students will be expected to take this amount (estimated total of $200.00) with them.

*****Costs subject to change without notice due to fluctuations in currency conversion rates and/or student enrollment. Furthermore, taxes and fuel surcharges which are not covered by our contract with the airlines are subject to change and may result in additional charges. Although we make every effort to find suitable roommates for each participant, a single supplement may be charged for any single for which no suitable roommate is available. Program Description

UNDERGRADUATES AND GRADUATES WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE!

This May term trip will explore one of South America's most vibrant towns. We will visit global brands such as Disney and Wrigley's and discuss how they were able to expand in South America. We will also visit local banks, chambers of commerce, and start up businesses to discuss some of the unique challenges of entrepreneurism in Chile. Students will also engage in a service learning project with a local non-profit. Accommodations are in a 4-star hotel in the heart of Santiago.

Students will enroll in a total of 3 credit hours of Business coursework which can be used to satisfy UAB School of Business International Business course requirements or major/minor requirements.

ELIGIBILITY:
  • At least Sophomore standing.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 or above

  • Permission of Faculty Leader & UAB Office for Study Away
